Introducing the
Whitmer's Porta-Morgue
A self-contained, portable mortuary refrigeration unit

For many of us planning a second chance at life through cryonic preservation and future re-animation of our bodies, the greatest forseeable threat to that plan is the impact of tissue damage caused by the natural decay processes that begin shortly after physical death. Whether you have secured a spot in an existing storage facility abroad, or have pinned your hopes to a facility closer to home, those first few hours count as our biggest risk factor.
The Whitmer Porta-Morgue may provide us with an extra measure of protection during those critical first hours. The Porta-Morgue provides excellent protection to safely hold a human body at cold temperatures and ideal in any situation where there may be a delay in the delivery of the body to a permanent storage facility. The PortaMorgue is fully re-useable, total sanitary, and very affordable.

This unit can be used as temporary stationary storage prior to local preparation procedures, or as a mobile unit for shipping (land transport, sea, or air) the body to it's next storage destination.
Options:
- Stainless Steel Interior and/or Exterior.
- Top door available for use with body lift.
- Side or Top Glass door available for viewing of body.
- Custom designed mobile cart and handles
Unique Design:
Developed and produced by a professional embalmer, Porta-Morgue is specially designed to suit the needs of those transporting human remains. It is sized to fit most mobile carts used in the funeral home business for easy transporting.
Porta-Morgue is compact and lightweight, and it can be fully disassembled in minutes for easy storage and provides variable temperature settings all the way down to freezing or below.
Custom Construction:
Porta-Morgue is constructed of aluminum with a stainless steel bottom, and is insulated with polystyrene solid insulation with an R factor of 15 for energy efficiency. Cooling is provided by a 1/4 horsepower, 115 volt, 60 cycle air-cooled Hermetic condensing unit with evaporator blower coil and it's virtually maintenance free.
Porta-Morgue effectively causes less dehydration and tissue damage usually related with larger refrigeration units, reduces bacterial growth and inhibits potential germs or viruses.
Porta-Morgue preserves the body better by:
- Retarding decomposition and decay.
- Deterring coagulation of blood
- Retarding rigor mortis
- Delaying gravitation, clotting and surface congestion
- Retarding autolytic changes
- Causing less tissue damage and dehydration than conventional large refrigeration units
- Providing convenient, economical storage of human remains when disposition is delayed
- Reducing bacterial growth
- Inhibiting germs and viruses.
